Weigh in at one month

So, I did a live-on-ustream weigh in of my little ones and found them to be as follows;
Espresso is still the smallest at 416 grams,

Macchiata takes second at 488 grams,

and no surprises here, Cappuccino is the biggest at 516 grams.

They also went to the vet for the first “real” time, all healthy, nothing to worry about. 😀

Papertraining begins

That’s a bit misleading- as soon as the puppies made it into their new bunny hutch home, it began. This week, however, I’m noticing that it’s effective.

I papered one half and put a puppy bed in the other. The first few days, there were accidents, and the bed went thru the wash last night ( thank you downstairs neighbour for letting me wash on your day, I owe you a drink!) to get rid of the residuals, but by and large, the puppies are learning that paper = pee.

Earlier, I set Espresso down on the paper and said “peepee”, and he went. His brother Cappuccino heard peepee, stood up, wiggled his bum and toddled down to the paper to go as well. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or awesomeness on the part of the puppies but I am all for it!

Slow Unsteady Steps

Yesterday evening, I noticed something about Tini’s little furbabies. They were trying hard, not just to flop themselves around their plastic bin, but towalk. Sure, their footsteps were a bit ungainly, and yeah, they were more paddle-like than paws and knock-kneed in their movements than an experienced walker would manage, but all the same, they are reaching the point of moving around on their own!

My sister and her fiancé arrived yesterday (there will be more on this adventure later) which means that guest photography is a go, and soon you’ll be inundated with more puppies than you can shake a stick at.

Still haven’t found a larger house for the puppies, but hopefully that’ll happen today (I just need to make pancakes to rouse the army first!) so that I can get the puppies in a bigger space before they start moving in earnest.

I am so excited!

Outside?? Can we go outside??

Today, I am sure some of you noticed a distinct lack of pupdates- this is because I spent MOST of the day at the beach, and was not home thinking of adorable photos I could take of my baby’s babies. Mochaccino enjoyed the trip out, and it was probably good for both him and Chocolatini- she loves her brother but right now mama-instincts are STRONG and as a result, he’s been spending a lot of time locked in the bedroom to keep him away from the babies (though to be fair, most of the time when the door is open, he sticks his nose out, smells babies and runs the other direction!) and their irate mama.

When we left this morning, Chocolatini tried to join us- this was a sign for me that she’s calming down about her babies, and that as much as she loves them, she needs a little “her” time as well. With that in mind, when I got back from my outing, I harnessed her up for a brief walk after asking her “Andiamo?” to which she replied with flagged ears and tail as she ran to stare at the harness bin.

My plan was to walk around the block, but her plan, infinitely more important than mine, at this point, was to go to the University and have a good sniff around. It’s about the same distance as going around the block would be, but with a lot more grass. She explored, sniffed, and took a general impression of the area, and after a quarter hour or so she decided she was content and started to head back towards home and her babies.

As expected, when I opened the door I wasn’t even allowed to get my shoes off before she dragged me to the babybin and hopped in with them. She snuggled up with them and they started feeding, but she looked so much calmer than she has for the last few days. Twenty minutes later she had hopped up on my lap for cuddles and left the babies sleeping in their respective corners.

I’m so glad she’s getting less anxious, it’ll make for a lot less tense and hectic atmosphere in the house between Chocolatini and Mochaccino. 😀
